Bharatiya Janata Party which is currently ruling in India.

Formation

The BJP was officially formed on April 6, 1980, through the merger of several political parties and groups, primarily the Janata Party (which had split from the Indian National Congress) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)-inspired Bharatiya Jana Sangh.

You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.
Albert Camus

4
Ideology

The BJP is known for its adherence to the ideology of Hindutva, which seeks to establish the hegemony of Hindus and the Hindu way of life. It advocates a strong nationalist and culturally conservative agenda. The party is often associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a right-wing Hindu nationalist volunteer organization.

Leadership

The prominent leader of the BJP was Narendra Modi. He has been a key figure in shaping the party’s direction. Narendra Modi served as the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and became the Prime Minister of India after the BJP won a decisive victory in the 2014 general elections.

3
Election Success

The BJP has seen significant electoral success at both the state and national levels. In the 2014 general elections, the party won a clear majority, securing 282 out of 545 seats in the Lok Sabha (the lower house of India’s parliament). The BJP’s success was attributed to a combination of factors, including anti-incumbency sentiment, a strong campaign led by Narendra Modi, and a focus on economic development.

2
Economic Policies

The BJP government under Narendra Modi implemented several economic reforms, including the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and demonetization, aimed at combating corruption and promoting a formalized economy.

1
Nationalism and Security

The BJP has often positioned itself as a party that prioritizes national security. This stance became particularly pronounced after incidents like the 1999 Kargil War and various terrorist attacks.

The BJP government has initiated various social programs such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission), Make in India, and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (financial inclusion program).
